Welcome to my blog! My name is Siobhán, better known to you as ‘A Girl Who Blooms’. As my birth given name suggests, I am Irish born but I have a wandering soul and it’s hard to pin me down to one location as I’m constantly country hopping.
I’m often asked why I chose A Girl Who Blooms as my blogging handle – apparently ‘because it sounds pretty’ isn’t a good enough reason. If we delve deeper into the mystery behind my alter ego, my husband has always declared that I light up whenever I’m immersed in my passion – travelling.

I never feel quite as alive as when I’m setting foot in a new country or as romanced when I’m wandering familiar streets for the umpteenth time of a city I’ve fallen in love with. I will whittle away countless hours every day researching new destinations and crafting itineraries to make sure that I don’t miss out on anything. A glass of wine (or two) in a little known restaurant that’s tucked away on a side street which is kept secret by the locals from the tourists are just some of the gems I like to uncover to discover.
My professional experience has fuelled my burning desire to seek new experiences. I’ve worked as a Marketing Communications Manager within Asia’s luxury hospitality industry, lived abroad for several years, created and attended large scale events, been whisked away on press trips to five star resorts, been featured in destination magazines. I’ve even been fortunate enough to dabble in modelling with commercials and photoshoots.
Dreams and passions are meant to be shared, hence the blog, however, I’m lucky to share mine every day with my best friend – my #instahubs! For every picture I’m in, my husband is in some weird contorted angle behind the camera. He’s the one with the digital creative touch and is a writer by trade, so see if you can guess correctly who wrote what on the blog.
Together we make A Girl Who Blooms a living free-spirited woman who follows her dreams in search of inspiring moments. Because our interest in travel is so strong, we used our special day to pull friends and family from afar to share in our abroad wedding in Florence, Italy. Our wedding’s been published by Fly Away Bride, which for those who are looking for some wedding inspiration can read here, and is due to be published in Confetti Magazine.
Travelling allows you to keep growing, and it’s important to keep growing, which is why we’re always travelling.
