A Tuscan Treat at Il Salvantino, Fiesole

Intent on immersing ourselves into the Tuscan way of live, we chose to stay in the quaint hillside locale of Fiesole just 15 minutes outside the city of Florence . A personal choice for us, we got married in this area just two years ago, and fell in love with the dramatic views over the city below from the many historical mansions in the area.

Il Salvinatino is a stately home, or palazzo with an aristocratic past, dating back to the 16th century. The walls and rooms are adorned with art and antique furniture. Its unlike any chain hotel you might have stayed at, everything within the hotel feels like its from a different era, from the grandeur of a time gone by.

Situated 15 minutes outside the city, there is a regular hotel shuttle service to get into Florence. Given the city’s strict zoning laws for traffic, your choice for getting into Florence is either this, or a taxi, as you would be required to park your car in a garage outside the city walls.

For exploring the Tuscan countryside, you couldn’t find a more perfect place to stay. Not only is the hotel beautiful, and the gardens impressive, but the parking is free, with easy access to roads to travel to the famous Chianti region, a little further South.

On the grounds is a stunning garden, with flower arches, fountains and a number of beautiful statutes adding to the grandeur of the setting.

Famous for weddings, and large events, you can see why, with the ample space for mixing, along with the dramatic views of the city below.

For a true Tuscan experience just a stones throw from one of the most beautiful cities in the world, definitely stay at Il Salvantino.
